From September 11th, 2011, all mandated electric products must have an energy consumption label to let consumer be aware of that. If the product does not have the label, the Mexican Government will fine the manufacturer, importer and reseller with a penalty around USD$100,000 per model.

Label requirement:

1. Only apply to new product. Used or refurbished products are exempted from the new rule.
2. The power consumption should be marked by Watts consumed per hour, Wh or kWh. 
3. The label must include Legend (Spanish), Quantity and Unit. 
4. The label information must be shown clearly on the product and package.
5. If the product is too small, the label must be stuck on the package and user manual.
