Japan- Indication of Type Certification Numbers has been changed

On Dec. 16th 2011, Japan MIC (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) has declared to simplify Japan Type Certification numbering.

Currently, when equipment embedded multiple radio modules, there will have multiple certification numbers corresponding radio specification. For example, a smart phone has built in radio modules
of HSPA, WIFI, Bluetooth and W-CDMA then it should obtains four certification numbers to indicate
on equipment. According new regulation, it is only one certification to be issued. This change was
made in consideration of the limited display space available on equipments required to indication multiple certification numbers.

Enforcement date: Dec. 16th 2011

Equipment / Product Scope:
-Article 38-2-2, paragraph 1, item 1 of the Radio Law. For example: WLAN, Bluetooth etc.
-Article 38-2-2, paragraph 1, item 2 of the Radio Law. For example: Mobile phone etc.
-Article 38-2-2, paragraph 1, item 3 of the Radio Law. For example: Access system base station etc.
 
The certification numbers under previous regulation for the approved equipment are still valid.
